New Zealand triathlete Joanna Lawn continued her build up for Hawaii with a third finish at a half Ironman event in Lubbock, Texas.
The goal for Lawn was to race well in the conditions that will be a similar to the world championships at Kona, Hawaii, in October.
"Lubbock was a lot harder than I had expected, but I was still able to get my bike speed were it needs to be right now, even though my running is not where I would like it to be," she said.

Kansas 70.3 Race Report
Submitted by Jo on Mon, 06/16/2008 - 10:02.Ironman 70.3 debuted in Kansas today, featuring both some outstanding racing but also the difficulties of dealing with unsettled weather. Safety concerns due to severe weather conditions forced race organizers to shorten the run course for about a third of the field.
Both athletes and volunteers were forced to leave the race site, which meant that there was no awards ceremony held for the event. Athletes who qualified for the Foster Grant World Championship Ironman 70.3 in Clearwater will be contacted this week to organize their qualifying spots.
Jo bags sixth consecutive Ironman NZ
Submitted by Jo on Thu, 06/12/2008 - 10:48.Wow, I can't believe it has come and gone. The build up for Ironman New Zealand this year was awesome. After being away for so much of the year it is nice to do all your training from one base and even better when it is your own home. Training went fast, not too say that I went fast but the weeks just flew by, logging the hours, the intensity and recovery all just perfect. With all this fantastic training done, I was looking forward to having a solid strong race.
