January is nearly over!!
Well I really can't believe how fast this month has gone. I guess the training routine is settling in well, and days are flying by. I have been doing some great training sessions lately. The weather here in Auckland has been great!!!!
One of my most favourite sessions during my preparation for taupo is the Lydiard Run. This run is brutal. It is in one of the most beautiful and magical places in auckland........in the Waitakere ranges. Often when I run it, the weather is humid, foggy and drizzly!!! The run is around 25-30km and it is hard. It really prepares your body what it is going to feel like in an ironman. Many parts of this run are steep......one hill is called the concrete monster...so just imagine what that looks like?? once you have climbed up and up and up.....you reach the top of the hills, and from there you do some thigh bashing descents and then head right into the rubber legs hills!
This was the training ground of some of New Zealands most famous runners.......Peter Snell, John Walker and many more. Off course who invented it but the Bestest coach of all......Arthur Lydiard.
So once again I am sitting here recovering in my NORMATEC MVP BOOTS....trying to chill before one of many Big Days to come. Tomorrow will be an awesome ride ......called the Coast Ride, approx 200km. It is actually breathtakingly beautiful, as we head out to the east coast and ride over some awesome roads near Kiaua, Miranda, Kawakawa Bay and Clevedon. Once I find my way home I think I have a nastyyyyy run to do off the bike, and then in the evening I am heading down to the stroke and stride to mix it up in the swim!!!
So if you don't hear from me for a while, I may still be out there swimming.
Hope all is going amazzzzzzzzzzing, take care and enjoy.
Hugs always
JO
