Rest and Recover time

Well, what a challenging few months I have had.  Here I am now, at home in Auckland New Zealand with a smile from ear to ear.  It is so great to be back here, after leaving NZ back in may it is so good to be breathing the fresh crisp air of my home country.

I spent a few days after the race in and around kona.  It was great this year as many of the athletes decided to stay put after the race and actually get to enjoy and learn about the place we call THE HOLY GRAIL.....KONA HAWAII.  It was good to just chill and let the body unwind naturally, rather than packing up your bikes and gear and moving on as fast as possible.

I am back here now, and getting into some good R and R.  After the race, I was a little concerned that with the bacteria infection I had had was going to start brewing again.  As we know how much you have to push your self and your mind during an Ironman event that anything can push your body over its limits........

I have already been to see my awesome Doctor, Lucy and she put me through a whole line of blood tests... I hate having blood tests as the needle scares me!!! but I always tell myself.....what is going to come from this....all the information I need, too really know what is going on inside me.  Lucy was very very impressed with how my abcess was healing.  It had been 5 weeks since my operation and it is now closing together!!!!  phew.....when I first saw the wound....i thought a dog or a shark had bitten me!!!!!   The FRENCH medical system they say, is one of the best in the world...I would have to agree.

So from here on in it is onwards and upwards.....  I am chilling here, doing the odd bit of sporty stuff.  I enjoy this time off, as I get to do anything I want.  I get to eat all the yummy lollies(candy) that I have missed out on during the year.  I am busy most days catching up with my sponsors......who are just the bestest.....they have all been so awesome to me for many many years.  I am planning on catching up with Malcolm from Thompsons next week.  Hopefully I get to have a chat to his staff again.  I enjoyed my chat earlier this year with his staff, sharing my experiences of THE GREATEST JOURNEY ON EARTH!!!!IRONMAN.......  and hopefully I influenced some of them to take up a challenge.........a challenge of anykind.

I started back in the gym yesterday too.  AND, yes my muscles are killing me today.  I have sore arms and sore buttock muscles....but I love that feeling, at least I know I have some muscles in there!!!!  Bec Underdown always knows just what exercises work me.....and she knows exactly what exercises are challenging to me. I don't need alot of motivation for the gym....I love doing core strength.  So yeah for the gym.....I will back working out at BODYSMART GYM 3 or 4 times a week.

Well I must be off and get ready for dinner.  Armando and I are heading off to one of our favourite local restaurants........GION JAPANESE RESTAURANT....yum yum yum....that is all I am saying.

take care everyone and enjoy everything.....

hugs
