Cycling: Amy Taylor, MSc(Hons)
A carded coach with the New Zealand Academy of Sport, Amy has been riding for 16 years experimenting on the road, track and mountain bike. Amy studied Sports Science and Physiology at the University of Auckland, & her cycling research has been internationally published. Through experience in corporate health, coaching, the gym industry, and an exercise physiology laboratory she is an accredited Sports Science New Zealand Exercise Physiologist and Physical Conditioner. She has coached for 10 years, including a number of National, Commonwealth Representatives, and World Champions. Amy combines traditional training methods with the latest exercise physiology research, & is consistently seeking new ways to improve her athletes’ no matter what their starting ability. She is currently a cycling skills columnist for Femme Fitness magazine, training columnist for Endurance Sport Magazine, and Sports Science columnist for www.cyclingnz.com. In 2005 she was the North Island Track Sprint champion and in 2006 & 2008 received a SPARC Prime Ministers Scholarship for Coaching. Lastly this year she was awarded Cycling New Zealands Personal Coach of the Year, and Overall Coach of the Year.
Trainer, Mental - Jack Ralston
Jack describes himself as “part trainer, part motivator, agitator and initiator – and a Futurist” (one who prepares for the future before you have to.)
He has over twelve years experience directing national and international events in a wide variety of sports, including track and field, rugby, cycling, soccer, golf, basketball and tennis. He led negotiations with key national and local government officials, sponsors and sports federations. Jack has also developed business plans and strategies which involved considerable change and which were highly successful for all involved.
He has trained world champions to Commonwealth Games, Olympic and World Championship level and in 1994/95 was named as the Triathlon NZ coach of the year.
Jack was Asia Pacific Director for NIKE International, creating a major sports business message that saw billion dollar growth, lead the creation of Nike Sports Entertainment which involved working with sporting greats like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Brazil Soccer and Carl Lewis in conducting events all over the world.
For two years Jack worked with the NZ Rugby Union as Director of Commercial and Marketing, delivering the marketing message of the All Blacks and securing the game’s future through millions of dollars in sponsorship. Most recently he worked as the Director of People, support and empowerment – ensuring players received a well-balanced lifestyle and life skills during and after their playing career.
More recently, Jack was Head of Sponsorship for Carat New Zealand. In this role he was involved in the creation of events and sale of sponsorships, stadia negotiations and delivery of benefits for sponsors and fans.
Jack is currently Director of his own sports marketing company.
Jack’s exciting presentations are built on a lifetime of coaching others to win and leave a lasting impression.
Key areas of his presentations include empowerment led change, sharing information with everyone, coaching for excellence, creating autonomy through boundaries, replacing the old hierarchies with self directed teams. Key focus areas are on building tomorrow today, keeping up with the success curve and developing the next curve and putting the right people on the right teams with the right support.

Mark Bone coaches some of NZ's and the worlds greatest triathletes.
These include Hamish Carter, 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist, Bevan Dockerty, 2004 World Triathlon Champion and Olympic Silver Medalist, Nathan Richmond, a former world Junior Triathlon Champion and 2004 Olympic representative. Terenzo Bozzone, 3 times World Junior Triathlon Champion.Cameron Brown, NZ's leading Ironman triathlete and 2002 NZ Sportsman of the year, and currently ranked # 2 in the World for Ironmen.
